A mixed media illustration of some geometry in a cafe I found fantastically amusing.

Façade at Whole Foods
A mixed media illustration of the stark architectural facade at my local Whole Foods market. This is why I love doing these tiny...
Upstairs Turntable
I don’t do a ton of graphite work, but when I do, I always enjoy the very ‘natural’ feel of the material and it’s incredibly flexible and forgiving behavior. This one was fun because the acrylic cover of the turntable is transparent, so it’s always fun to try to draw with that challenge.
Island Lantern
We have a similar brass-framed glass lantern at home, which I based this festive graphite sketch on. I typically draw still-life pieces, so this was a departure from the norm as the lantern is the only real object in the drawing. Plus, this was drawn on Christmas Day.
Acceptable Explosion
I worked with some new-to-me material and methods for this diptych to illustrate how the tapestry of a human life builds with differing methods, over changing seasons.
Waterfront Villa
While working with a startup, we did a team trip to Phuket, Thailand and stayed in this fantastic AirBnB. This architectural illustration was done over several days from a photograph I took at the back of the house.
Royal Crescent
The house of someone I know. I loved the simple beauty of the symmetry of this place, and it truly is a stunning multi-level building inside.
Christmas Steps
It’s always a special time when I get to visit Bristol, England again. Last time I was there, I took the opportunity to get a shot of the top of The Christmas Steps so I could do this illustration later on. It’s a really special place, and worth the trip for the nostalgia alone, for me anyway.
Avant Garde Indian
A quick-ish sketch of an Indian food joint in Bristol, England. I dedicated this to my mom, who loves strong flavors.
Queen’s Square
This was the illustration that got me back into architectural drawing. During a visit to Bristol, England, I snagged a sketchbook, pen and shading brush because I just really felt like drawing. As you can see, I dedicated this one to my dad who encouraged my illustrations as a kid.
Discovery
A piece I did for a local Los Angeles art show circa 2002. One of about 30 others, all on the same circular wooden panels. Mine features my familiar otherworldly visitors observing a human-made machine atop a skyscraper.
Celadon
Celadon is one of the first larger format pieces I did. I incorporated phrases from my poetry into a lot of those earlier pieces, including this one: “…and nobody knew, save for those who cared not.” It features my imaginary otherworldly peaceful characters who wander Earth as they observe human behaviors.
